Scrapbooking bookmarks made easy

So I like to read and I like to leave important points that I may write down later or just come back to, so have plenty of book marks means I don’t have to destroy the book by marking it using the page itself, instead I can mark the page with a book mark.

If you missed it and prefer to crochet a bookmark, see my blog post here on how to do that: https://melanietoyeshobbies.blogspot.com/2024/12/how-to-make-crochet-bookmarks.html

This time I thought it would be fun, because you can never have enough book marks to scrapbook my own.

How to scrapbook a bookmark:

It’s actually quite quick and easy to do and just remember it’s for you to see, so make it something you want to look out. Ideally you want to keep the size less than the book size. But as you will see below, I made some thicker sized ones and thin sized ones.

Then choose a piece of card paper or any paper that is thicker than scrapbooking paper. This can even be coloured or styled and you can use it to showcase it or use it as backing paper.

Then choose the theme of your bookmark. My first bookmark I decided to scrapbook a mermaid bookmark. So I started with the backdrop paper which was a water themed card paper. Then I added washi tape, which is fun for bookmarks because it can highlight the bookmark very well. I added a picture of a mermaid and some other pictures I glued on to match the theme. I also added some wording for a feel good message.

You can see it here:

As you can also see the second book mark, I did a flower themed. The bottom flowers are 3D stickers. So it pops even more out.

To also add to the bookmark you could hole punch the top and add a longish ribbon to help you find your page in the book easier. But if you don’t add a hole, this will work just as fine.

Then because it was so quick to make and I was enjoying it, I made two more:

I really like Hello Kitty so it was no surprise I made one. Too cute and then I also found some yellow star card paper so decided to make a floral scrapbook bookmark.

Will I make more? Yes. Why not? I can also make some to add to birthday cards, make something home made to add to gifts. Especially to those who love reading.

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
