Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space

So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.

I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks.

Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.

It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me.

I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table. I have a small space to work with. I couldn’t find a chair I liked but I knew if I really wanted this new craft space, a chair wouldn’t be hard to find. One with a tall back was my own Wishlist.

But the more I thought about. The more I thought, I only scrapbook once a week and same with diamond painting. And I already have a table so did I need to spend all this money on another space?

So I reshuffled my space near the table and moved my drawers next to it so I literally didn’t have to go anywhere to get my scrapbooking supplies.

But what was I going to do with this tub of paper?

To create scrapbooking storage look at what you have at home

I looked in my recycling and found a good sized box. Not too large because I wanted to see my 12x12inch paper. And it fit perfectly on top of my drawers of scrapbooking supplies. I cut the folding top part of the box so it was just left with the bottom of the box and the sides.

Decorate your scrapbooking storage

Now, I don’t just want a box in my space. I have to decorate it! So I found some A4 light pink and white paper. I used two A4 pieces and cut them up to fit onto the box. There is no point trying to glue the paper to the box. So I just used clear tape to fix the paper to the box.

I decided my box needed some stickers and each sided would showcase different themed stickers. The front of the box is holiday themed because who doesn’t love to feel like they are on holiday’s?

One side has my favourite writing stickers and motivation. Plus my favourite mystical animal, a unicorn!

I couldn’t go past the pandas. And they are at the back of the box.

Pandas are just cool creatures, displaying fun and peace.

And of course some pretty flowers to finalise the box decorating.

So I kept the box fairly simple but that’s because it’s on showcase in my living space. I also want it to be simple to help inspire me to create.

I added the taller paper to underneath the box and then filled the box full of my 12x12 inch scrapbooking paper. I really thought I would have heaps of left over paper that couldn’t fit into the box but it all fit! (Tightly!). I’m so happy with the end result. Now I want to scrapbook!

Here are some piccies of the final result:

And what did I do with the ice cream container for of paper scraps? I just sat it next to the box. It’s a bit messy looking but it is still inspiring to create and once I recycle another box then I might create a box for the scraps and decorate it!

I thought you may enjoy this post because you don’t need your own craft room if you don’t have the space. You just have to get creative on how to set up a space to make it multi-purpose to use do craft and other things, like the dining table.

Keep track of your scrapbooking supplies

You may also be interested in my cool scrapbooking supplies printable tracker.
This scrapbooking supplies printable tracker helps you keep track of what scrapbooking supplies you do have already so you don’t buy the same thing twice but also so you can keep track of how many supplies you have.

For example, I have six months of scrapbooking supplies in paper. I have twelve months of stickers and washi tape. How do I know how long it is going to last?

It’s a cool Maths equation. I love Maths. So if I use four scrapbooking papers each week, plus four stickers and four lengths of washi tape. 4x 52 (weeks) =208 items. I do have about 100 scrapbooking papers. So I have six months worth of stock. Plus I buy 50 pieces of stickers per category. I have many years worth of stickers. And washi tape again, I have about a years worth.

So to work out how much stock you will use in a year, work out how much supplies you use each week and then you should be able to work out if you have enough. I also created a YouTube video explaining this, view it here.

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
