About Melanie Toye

Well I have to say, I’m slightly embarrassed… normally when I start a blog the first post I create is an about me and an introduction to my blog. Melanie Toye in the media

So I decided to cut out my media opportunities, paste it into an art book and scrapbook it. As I am quite proud of what I have achieved through out the years writing.  Let’s begin with my greatest achievement. A two-page spread interview in the Courier Mail, Career One section. The third largest newspaper in Australia. It is huge so I had to fold it up into the page, which is fine.  The next media, is a press release I wrote for a printed magazine, The Messenger, which also included two images of my first ever book, Entice Me. I used to write short stories in My Town magazine, which was a local printed magazine. As you can see on the right my novel, Entice Me book covers are pictured.  I am proud of this article I wrote for The Dollar Stretcher, an American magazine.  Also, in terms of scrapbooking, I bought a tonne of books, writing and quote stickers for this scrapbooking and I used all the above book washi tape in one sitting. I have never done that before. I...

My Year in Review

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay Its been a full on year! Full of major harsh realities but also a renewal and rediscovering myself. And it was in October that I started my new strategy for growing my blog and it was in October that I doubled my views. That is success! But guess what? "Next year is going to be even bigger!"   But before we focus on the New Year. Let's review my year in review. Because you have to look back at what succeeded to know where to build in the future. Why you should promote on a blog

Image by Pexels from Pixabay Welcome to my Hobbies blog, where I write about crocheting, scrapbooking, diamond painting, writing and reading... sometimes other hobbies as well, but these are the main 5 hobbies I write about. What is cool about a blog is that it is ever growing. For example, for a year I had about the same amount of views each week. Then I created this whole new strategy and I have doubled the views to my hobbies blog in a month. It feels amazing and I know over time, the views on my blog will grow even bigger. I obviously have great plans and strategy for growing my hobbies blog. The best part is, as long as I have a blog, the posts will be published. This means, viewers can visit and read old blog posts.  What does this mean? If you advertise on my hobbies blog, you will have a long time of advertising because the blog will be relevant for many years to come.  What can you promote on my blog: As a business you can promote your business as a whole, or promote...

My journey as a writer

Image by Erin East from Pixabay As a young writer When I was young, I was creating and designing my own Word printed magazines. I can’t remember what the topic was on, but I loved creating it. My friend and I created it and it looked awesome, with our clip Art images to design it. I would write letters to my family and friends and yes, boyfriends and yes I demanded they write me letters back. Ha! Of course back then, I would receive gifts of pretty writing paper and envelopes, a rareity to find out the shops these days but still possible! I found in Grade 11 & 12 in High School, in English and actually the years prior to that, I really enjoyed English. I didn’t do too much fiction writing, may be none at all but it all set me up to one day be a writer. As an adult writer When I was in my late 20s, I realised I wanted to write a novel. I also realised, I have always loved writing so why would I not consider it a good career path to go down? It was because it was so easy to m...

How I use my small space for craft?

Image by StockSnap from Pixabay My old craft room space I love craft, I used to have a craft room, with two tables one mainly for miniatures, so they would have a space to dry and space to work and have all my tools available in one place. The second table, I would mainly use to host my huge diamond painting! It was the size of the table. I did move it around, so for whatever other craft I was using, I would use that second table. Then, I moved out of that space and had a room with no doors, like an open area in a home. So I had three tables, a storage unit behind me and a set of five draws as well. My craft was building, I had scrapbooking as a hobby and many many supplies. I had craft that I needed more space for, and storage to showcase once I made it. It all sounds glamorous, having a full time craft space and I guess it is. Now though, I think it feels better. My current craft room space Now I have a kitchen table or an outdoor table, where I can sit and write/blog/wr...
