So I did it again ... I have been purchasing books from my Apple Books ... and I thought it would continue this way, because the last time I bought second hand books ... they have only been read a little amount. So I thought if I keep reading Apple Books, I will actually read it. Also, non-fiction books are generally not as old as some of the books in thrift stores.
But I had a day to myself and I really love exploring thrift stores to see what cool non-fiction books they do have (and if they have any craft!)... so I went back.
Where I shop, there are about 5 thrift stores right next to each other. So if I only find a couple of books at one store, I can progress easily to the next one to see what they have. I also took a big thick bag to carry my books in ... but honestly, if I over did it ... I would just buy some more bags from the store to carry them in.
I was really happy with what I got. I bought a hard-cover Bucket List, photography and travel book, which is absolutely in perfect condition and so picturesque that for $3 I couldn't go past it. I think it's a great coffee table book and conversation starter... pity I don't have a coffee table.
Then I bought another hard-cover recipe book because I am always on the hunt with some healthy foods that cover the carbs, protein and vegetables in one plate sort of meals. Again $3!
For hard covers, books sell around $50 and I am buying near-brand new and in great condition, hard cover books. Last week, I already book-marked the recipes I want to make from it and also I made one recipe. I don't know if the dish just tasted extra good because it was a new recipe and it worked or if I was just so proud of myself for making a recipe, even the sauce from scratch.
And it was easier to read the recipe than from my mobile. Overall $3 has been a great investment already. I ended up buying 3 different recipe books.
I also bought a non-fiction book about self-growth and realised I had the exact same book at home already... oops! But again only $3... I haven't read either of them yet. So it's obviously a topic I am drawn too if I already bought it.
I bought a self-care book. It's a really old one and I thought why not? I love learning about self-care and self-growth.
And I bought one about business entrepreneurs being interviewed. I have started reading it and the writer, has a business in online courses, which is very cool because I am also selling online courses.
And the final book I bought, was ways to live happy. Sure, who doesn't like to feel happy? Although with my hobbies and developing of products, plus my family-life, I am very happy. Let's sparkle an extra dose of happiness - yes please.
So again, these books were only $3 each a fraction of the cost of what I would buy new and because they were cheap, I was able to buy more than one at a time and I got to find new topics that I probably would think about buying for ages before purchasing due to the cost of a new book.
So if you love reading, whether fiction or non-fiction, do check out your thrift stores to see what they have. Otherwise, check out my books for sale here.
