A travel scrapbook page

 I love scrapbooking.

I have many photo albums ready to scrapbook but also I have a scrapbook art book for just scrapbooking fun that isn’t going into a photo album. It’s just a bit of fun.

So how do you scrapbook?

Well it’s easy. You can go as minimalistic or as grand as you want. For me, I like three materials that I use nearly every time which is scrapbooking paper, stickers and washi tape. I do have extra materials such as gold tissue and feathers and even rubber stamps and felt pens but the three top materials I try and use every time. This is because it just feels right to me. It’s the materials that I love to use so why not use them?

So to scrapbook an art book, start with a blank page:

How to plan for your scrapbook page

I like to set the page at the beginning by getting all my materials that I want to use for the piece of work of art I want to do. I think of a theme and get the materials that I want to use. Noting, that sometimes I select too much and sometimes I select too little. But it’s a starting point and it saves me going back and forth through my draws to get what I need.

So today I am creating a travel theme scrapbook page and this is the materials I selected:

As you can see I have used paper, stickers, washi tape and various amounts of each towards the travel theme.

How to scrapbook

So scrapbooking is easy because you create the fun you want the page to look. I sometimes layout everything first and other times I just go with it. I tend to start with gluing down the scrapbooking paper first because it tends to be the biggest items used. And then I add stickers and then at the end I outline sections with the washi tape. Here is my final result:

To buy scrapbooking materials

When shopping for scrapbooking materials, it’s important to find the themes in your photos. For example, do you have kids? What do they love? With sites such as AliExpress you can get themed stickers like Pokémon, Harry Potter etc which is cool for kid themed photos.

If you have a lot of travel photos, travel stickers and travel scrapbooking paper is great to purchase in advance to starting.

If for example, you have a farm, washi tape in fruits or stickers in flowers and fruits etc could be a good start.

Where do you find scrapbooking materials?

I tend to find scrapbooking materials from lots of sites such as AliExpress.com (which I am an affiliate for but in this post I am not using an affiliate link). I find junk stores have scrapbooking materials as well. Daiso, the Japanese store has some cool materials.

I hope you enjoy your scrapbooking journey because honestly it’s the funnest and relaxing hobby you can start. You definitely do not need to be an artist to try it. Have fun!

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...
