More money with Paul Clitheroe book review

I love reading money and financial books and generally with non-fiction I tend to go to the chapters that are relevant to me or when I can learn from. I was so engaged with More Money book that I read front cover to the back in two hours and I am not a huge book reader.

With any non-fiction book I really want to get at least one thoughtful piece from it. With More Money book I got more than one, I got five pieces of advice that I marked and wrote down to think about further.

But first what is More Money about. Well I did wonder myself, as I tend to buy books based on the the title alone. I don’t read the back of the book or the chapter names or even book cover design. The title is my go to, so remember the title is so important budding authors.

The More Money book covered subjects such as Every Day Savings, Cars, Mortgages and so on. The book was printed in 1995 which gave me some doubts that it would still be relevant but it was!

For me the coolest tip was find ways to save money that you spend on already. For example, if you want to get your nails done or a massage, instead of going without or paying a big sum of money why not try a beauty training school? And you know what I found three beauty training schools in Brisbane, Australia and they are a third of the price for one hour massages and facials and you can get your nails done. Plus other beauty specials like getting your make up done.

When you can pay a huge amount to be pampered and you might go regularly, you are saving a huge amount of money if you go to a beauty training school and you should feel good because you are helping students learn on real humans.

I absolutely love this idea and it got me thinking, what other things do I like to spend money on where I could find discounts? Obviously, if you are an avid reader of mine you would know I buy my books second hand from charity stores. Potentially saving up to $27 per book if I bought new. Where I recently paid $27 for 9 books from a charity store.

More Money also explained how one marketing company builds sales upon sales, by expanding sales by implementing sales consultants to sell your products and for every one under you, you get a cut from. And then they have sales consultants under them and then it keeps building and building. Which is similar to but not as a flow on effect to affiliate marketing, which is ideal for blogging.

Also More Money got me thinking if instead of feeling stressed about not having a budget for clothes. What am I spending $5 a week now that I could easily drop and put towards clothes? It’s like re-thinking my budget to maximise what I need and yes we do need clothes, especially if you have children and they grow out of it every season.

I have to say I really enjoyed reading More Money by Paul Clitheroe and it gave me a lot to think about. I hope if you can get a copy you enjoy the read and find it insightful as well.

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...
