Scrapbooking storage for your scrapbooking supplies

So I love recycling what I love to use as craft supplies. Why waste money on storage when you can use that money to buy more craft supplies!

I have to admit, having some craft storage is important and needed. Plus, it’s fun to organise your craft supplies once you get the storage. But you don’t have to miss out on craft storage because it can cost heaps of money.

So I want to share with you two creations I have created for scrapbooking supplies using recycled boxes and then decorated with some scrapbooking supplies.

The first one is a box for my stickers. I did have a much smaller box which I decorated as well. But it was quarter the size of the new box and let’s be real… I have a tonne of stickers. I just can’t seem to have enough stickers, I always need more. But I do have about a year’s supply of stickers so I really shouldn’t buy more. But a couple of stickers here and there won’t hurt.

Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is, I had to create a bigger box to put into my draws for scrapbooking so I can pull out the box from the draw and look through to find the type of stickers I need.

How to find the perfect sized box for your storage. So I have a set of five draws for my storage. Nothing fancy, they are plastic. Honestly, plastic draws are just easier to assemble than adding screws etc to wooden draws. Plus, they are easily portable. I can move them around my home if I so desire.

So to find the perfect sized box to fit in your draw save all your recycled boxes from the week or even few weeks. And see if any fit. Chip packet boxes, cereal boxes or even boxes you receive from deliveries are handy to use.

Then cut the side part of the cardboard open. Not the entry part. But one side of the box and see if it fits in your storage place, such as a draw.

So ensure the four walls are taped together. Then add your supplies. It is that easy.

I used a Pringles box for both creations I made today. One for stickers and one for washi tape.

For the washi tape, I was giving a cutlery set and used that for washi tape on the bottom of the draw. I had so much more washi tape, that I needed this box to add to the top of the cutlery draw. That way when I want to use washi tape, I can just take out the top box and use what I want.

It is very handy and it only cost me what I paid for the pringles. Plus, if you get bored with it down the track, just repeat the process and create new ones again. Too easy!

To decorate the sides, I was pretty tired so I kept it simple. I added scrapbooking paper to the stickers box and taped it to the sides. You can’t really see the tape because I used clear tape. I also added some panda and cloud stickers on the stripes side. You can definitely add as many decorations as possible if you prefer or keep it simple.

For the washi tape box I added scrapbooking postcards. They are so pretty. They are like cardboard, so a bit more sturdy. I didn’t add stickers because the postcards are so decorative and pretty.

So before you throw out those boxes think, what could I use it for?

Here are my pictures of the boxes and getting built:

See aren’t the post cards pretty?

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...
