Create a house themed scrapbook page

So, I love to create a scrapbook art page that is just filled with cute paper and stickers and washi tape. I also scrapbook family albums, which act a bit different because the scrapbooking is to enhance the photos rather than the scrapbook art page is to showcase the cool scrapbooking.

Today, I am sharing with you my house themed scrapbook and you can create a similar style scrapbook page. I do quite like creating a scrapbook page because I have more room to create.

So if you want to create your very own scrapbook page without adding photos, start with an A4 notepad. Thick paper is ideal but not necessary. Just find something you have in the home.

If you follow my blog, you will know I like to start the creative process but thinking of a theme and then finding the supplies and finally creating the scrapbook page to that theme. This means, you either have to buy themed scrapbooking supplies or you have a tonne of scrapbooking supplies already that you can find a theme, with what you have.

So let’s start with creating the theme. I find some cute house stickers, so I am going to create a house design.

With the house stickers, as inspiration I found a marble backdrop. As you will notice later, the backdrop sometimes gets consumed with stickers so you don’t need up seeing it. So don’t spend too much time finding a backdrop.

I thought marble is a pretty cool house backdrop. It was that or thick wood background paper. I decided to go with the marble. I cut it to fit the page and then glued it down with stick glue.

You will want to use stick glue because it’s thin and not too thick, which may create bumps in the paper.

Then I found some magazine cut outs that I keep in an ice cream container inside the tub of my scrapbooking paper.

The pink paper is a cool backdrop that I thought would go with some of the house stickers. And it actually felt bumpy which is cool. It’s rare to find textured paper.

Here’s a picture so far of the development. I did wonder if I should put another picture on the left hand bottom corner but you will soon see what I did there.

So as you are creating the scrapbook page, you go through different emotions, at this point it’s generally where you may not think it will work out. The doubt starts to creep in.

But hang in there, because you scrapbooking masterpiece is still coming!!

Then I decided to add these cool house stickers.

Is it looking good? Sure! But is it enough? There is still a lot of white space, I feel. Not a lot but it can be trimmed by using washi tape.

Ps. I am loving these house stickers. I just feel it goes well together. I don’t think I’ve used these stickers before, so I’m quite happy with the progress. Also a little tip when buying stickers, I always buy a 50 pack if available. You will want as many stickers of what you choose otherwise it will be used up to quick.

That’s just my tip anyway.

Ok, so then I added some washi tape to fill the blanks. I got to use different colours of washi tape, which was fun too. Sometimes when scrapbooking, I try to use one or two washi tape for the scrapbook album page to make it look more unified. But this time, I used four different washi tapes.

And here’s the final outcome, which I quite enjoyed doing:

I hope seeing what I have created has inspired you to create something even more awesome. You can definitely add more to this page, but I like to keep things simple.

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...
