Creating your own scrapbooking decorations are super fun.
Your imagination is limitless and you can literally create anything you so
desire.
Here are 6 ideas to create something extra special when it
comes to scrapbooking:
Use stencils or cookie cutters to create shapes for scrapbooking
So you can either use the stencil or cookie cutter directly
onto your scrapbook page, or you can use the stencil over some coloured paper
and then cut the pieces out, using all different colours, or just one or two
colours and then decorate on your scrapbook page.
I say, stencils or cookie cutters, because you get a nice
exact shape. If you are good at drawing then simply draw the objects.
Cut out letters from magazines for scrapbooking
Find heaps of magazines, either cheaply from a thrift store
or maybe an old collection you have. You may even want to use cut outs from
free magazines that you may collect.
Then cut out letters individually in titles. Do this for as
many different headings as possible. The end result is, you want to create a
different coloured and different style for each letter and then use it as a
heading for your scrapbook.
Your heading’s can be anything, from ‘Happy 5th
Birthday’ to ‘Baby years’ to ‘Holidays’. Whatever you want really. Be as
creative as possible and get started.
Paint on white card paper to design a scrapbook page
If you love to paint, why not paint on white card/thick
paper and then cut it up to design your scrapbook page?
You can paint lines, or hearts, or little suns. Just paint
something that looks like a pattern. You don’t have to be a painter or artist
to do this, just have fun with it. And keep it simple.
Creating your own designs makes the scrapbook more unique
and especially if you can’t find the them you want to create in any stores of
scrapbooking paper or resources. This way, you get to create exactly what you
want on the page.
Don’t forget with paint, to let the paint dry before moving
onto the next page. Unless you want that cool affect, where you put down paint
and then place a paper over it and then pull it off and then let it dry. That
is also a cool effect to try.
Paint using paper towel for scrapbooking
Ok, so more paint tips. Scrunch up a paper towel or tissue
and then dab it in paint. Then press the paper towel onto the scrapbook page.
It will make a cool effect that you have to try.
I learnt this paint technique while learning to paint trees.
But I think it’s a cool way to paint something, maybe use the technique for
different colours, or the colours used in the theme, and it will come out
looking pretty cool.
Use card paper to create lines for scrapbooking
Use can thick paper or card paper to create a wall of lines.
So you can use a ruler and pencil and create even spacing between each line and
use two different colours. For example for a baby boy theme, I would use pale
blue paper and white paper and then glue down each line, blue, white, blue,
white etc until the page is covered. This is your back ground and you can even
paste the photos over this background.
Then you can still add your washi tape for borders and
stickers etc to add to the scrapbook page.
The lines effect is a clean and neat scrapbooking design and
highlights the pictures rather than the backdrop.
Use coloured paper to make a decoration on the scrapbook page
If you aren’t looking for a flat scrapbook page, and want to
get a little creative and add a decoration. Try cutting up straight lines of
coloured paper and then twirl them with your scissors. Draw a balloon or use a
sticker of a ballon and add the “ribbons” i.e. the twirled paper underneath the
ballon.
This is a cool effect that can be used for scrapbooking or
even card making.
