I'm sorry ... what!?

No, Christmas holidays is the perfect time to spend time on your hobbies.

Here is why you shouldn't stop crafting over the Christmas holidays:

1. You need to craft Christmas hobbies

I don't know about you, but Christmas holidays deserve a Christmas hobby focus over those holidays. Get in the festive spirit by Christmas crafting. You can make Christmas gifts and/or Christmas decorations. How to get in the Christmas crafting spirit. Buy yourself a Christmas diamond painting to complete before Christmas. Turn on some Christmas carols and enjoy your Christmas diamond painting. Buy a Christmas crochet kit and decorate your home with a Christmas Santa and Mrs Claus, why not add some elves and a reindeer? Scrapbook your Christmas photos or make a Christmas junk journal and fill your heart with Christmas stickers, Christmas washi tape and Christmas scrapbooking paper to get into the spirit. Scrapbook while watching a Christmas movie. Fun!

2. You can make Christmas gifts

Making Christmas gifts are fun and you don't have to have pre-made them before December, you can start now! Just focus on your most favourite type of Christmas hobby, whether its crocheting or scrapbooking or card making and find some Christmas designs to get started. Plan what and who you want to gift too. And then get crafting!

3. Decorate your home with homemade Christmas decorations

Yes, you still have time. Especially, if you don't have too much Christmas decorations, why not add some specialness to your own home? Last year, I crocheted a large gingerbread man and a Santa gnome, it was pretty cool. I loved it! People commented on it who came into my house. Now, this year, I want to create more Christmas decorations. I am in the middle of crocheting a reindeer! And I have finished a Snowman... maybe I will make 2 or 4? It doesn't matter what you make, as long as you love it enough to showcase it! Remember, it will be you mostly looking at the Christmas decorations every day, so fill your space with love of craft.

4. Crafting your Christmas hobbies helps you relax

Hobbies are normally very relaxing (except for creating miniatures), but if you are feeling worn out and want a break (totally normal). Then take the pressure off of making handmade gifts, and just do Christmas hobbies that help you relax.

Again, diamond painting for me is one of the most relaxing hobbies. I strongly suggest, if you like diamond painting to really relax. And once complete, you can also place the finished diamond painting in a photo frame. Then you also have a Christmas decoration! #winning

So don't despair over the holidays, make time for you and relax and unwind. Find a good Christmas hobby to get started.

5. Make memories and craft with your family

And if you have children, buy them a Christmas hobby to also focus on and you can craft together! That way you are bonding together and spending time together, without feeling guilty. Take them on the journey with you. Or better yet, make it a tradition that during the December holidays you spend half a day crafting with your family. Everyone gets to choose their chosen Christmas craft and you allocate a half day to it. Memories are then created together forever.

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...
