Left over yarn, can be very annoying. Ha! Because, you want to use it all but you also don't want to run out. So we play this balancing game, buy more than we need and then wonder what to do with the left overs.
Here are 5 ideas of what to do with your left over yarn:
1. Chuck your left-over yarn
Let's be real, if you are crocheting amigurumi. If you are like me, I end up with little bits of all different colours that have been cut off throughout crocheting amigurumi.
I have tried to place the left over yarn, inside the amigurumi as stuffing. The problem here is, if your outer yarn is a light colour, like white and you are stuffing with bright colours, like green and hot pink... you can actually see the yarn that's been stuffed on the inside.
Also, it is annoying to stuff. For example, I use pillow stuffing (it is cheaper than cushion stuffing) and it just sits how you want it to sit inside the amigurumi shape. I guess that's what I am trying to say, it shapes nicely. But using yarn, it doesn't shape nicely. It seems stiff.
So let's be realistic, if it's small amount of yarn lengths, just chuck it.
2. Use your left-over yarn to create a scarf or blanket
Yes, this is a real thing. People crochet their left over yarns into projects, such as a random blanket or scarf. You could use yarn of a similar colour theme, like all pastels or all bright colours. This will take a lot longer than normal to crochet a scarf, but what does it matter when it is for fun?
You could really create a unique masterpiece when it is complete.
3. Use your left-over yarn as a decoration in a vase
I have seen people decorate vases and small jars with diamond painting drills, so I believe showcasing your mixed coloured yarn left overs, in a vase, would look quite creative. Plus, if you are like me, I just love looking at yarn. It just excites me, so why not showcase your left over yarn? Just something you can see it in, such as a vase or jar or bowl.
4. Use your left-over yarn to crochet bookmarks
You need a substantially small amount of yarn, to create bookmarks. Plus, I have a crochet bookmark pattern. Go to town and crochet bookmarks in all different coloured yarn!
5. Use you left-over yarn to crochet pom poms
Pom poms are cool and can be used for all different types of projects. From Santa hats to accessories on key rings and little hats for your amigurumi objects. With pom poms, you can create all the one colour of left over yarn bits or you can use all random colours!
