Is Diamond Painting hard for beginners?

Image by tengdu xiao from Pixabay

I have some great news... if you are starting out with diamond painting, the good news is that diamond painting is one of the easiest hobbies.

On my hobbies blog, I mainly write about crocheting, scrapbooking, diamond painting, writing and sometimes reading ... out of the above hobbies, diamond painting is the easiest.

Let me explain.

Why is diamond painting an easy hobby?

There is not much to set-up. If you used the basic kit for diamond painting. The only possible extra thing you might need is, mini zip lock bags for each colour of the drills (the diamonds), so you don't lose them and they don't fall on the ground (this happens ... alot).

You can literally get started on your diamond painting immediately. Just peel the sticker layer on top of the diamond painting a small way (don't take it off completely). Put your pen into some of the wax. Then pour some of your drills into the small container provided in the kit. Place your open onto the top (so it's flat on the bottom) and then place down on the correct colour/number/letter on your diamond painting.

Then repeat, repeat, repeat.

That is literally it. Easy, right?!

This is one of the reasons why I love diamond painting.

I can just relax while diamond painting. No over thinking of the hobby. No wondering, if I am doing it right and if the end picture is going to work out.

  • When I am crocheting, I doubt myself most of the way of crocheting amigurumi because I can't see if it looks like the picture until the end.
  • When scrapbooking, I also don't know how it is going to look like till the very end. Because I create and build on an idea as I am working on it.
  • With writing, again, same thing... it's a journey. It may work out and I will find out at the end if it worked or if I have to start again.

So the fact that diamond painting we don't have to wonder if it will work out, it just does. That removes the stress from it, almost immediately. There is no stress with diamond painting. It is just relaxing.

Plus, if anything, we get to see the end diamond painting come to life as we add more drills and then the end result of the picture, is awesome and sparkly!

Also, once you finish, that's it. You can literally pack your stuff up, quite quickly and put it all away and then start the next one. That's why people buy so many diamond paintings in one hit. Because, you don't want to wait a month for the next one to be bought and delivered. You want the next one straight away so you can relax.

Diamond painting is for relaxation

Simply turn on some music or let your mind enjoy the silence as you diamond paint. I love letting my mind think about any challenges and problem solve them as I am diamond painting and being in a relaxing state. It means instead of trying to figure out a problem and be in a stressful state, I am allowing my body to solve a problem in a relaxed state, which means the problem doesn't become as fixated as an issue. It is easier to solve.

Or you can simply just be in the present moment. And just enjoy your own company while diamond painting.

Did you know, I sell diamond painting trackers. So you can track things like how many diamond paintings you actually have in stock! How many drill packets you have for each colour, for those who love to buy the drills separately to have back-up stock.  I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts and look at my Etsy store for some inspiration.

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
