How to teach your child how to scrapbook?

Image by Jan Kosmowski from Pixabay

Scrapbooking is super fun and creative and having your child learn how to scrapbook, is really fun.

Here are some sure fire ways to help your child scrapbook:

Show your child your finished scrapbooks

By showing your child your scrapbooks, they get to see the end results and get an idea of what scrapbooking is visually. This teaches them that being creative with paper and stickers and some glue and scissors, can be turned into some cool art.

Also, it shows your child, that you value memories if you use photos in your scrapbooking. And children or anyone, love looking back at older photos and memories. So it's quite a moment for them as well.

Show your child your scrapbooking supplies

It's exciting for someone who does scrapbooking to show their scrapbooking supplies to someone who seems interested in it. You have spent time browsing and then choosing which supplies you would love to use and now you can show someone the cool supplies you do have.

Give your child some scrapbooking supplies to play with (their choice)

Ok, now it gets harder from here (but it doesn't have to)... you can give them some of your scrapbooking supplies to start with to see if they enjoy scrapbooking a page. Plus give them a scrapbooking book, or even an exercise book that hasn't been used from school. That is there scrapbooking book, which they can use whenever they feel like it.

Give them a drawer too. So they can put their scrapbooking supplies in. If you have another pair of scissors and a glue stick, pass them that too.

Do you know own scrapbooking page, as they create their own page. Don't try to fix theirs. It's their first time, and putting your artwork on display can be a nervous thing to do. They may start small. With stickers mainly on the page.

Teach your child how to cut cool paper cuts

If you have any stencils, show your child how to use the stencil to create images. Then show them how to make cloud paper cut outs and how to make different shapes and borders etc.

Kids, want to have fun and so do you! So be creative as possible, when showing them how to scrapbook.

If your child seems to actually create a scrapbooking page and seems to enjoy it. Ask them if you can buy them supplies? And also, what are their favourite people/places/themes etc. My son, loves Ronaldo, a famous football player. Yes, you wouldn't believe it, I found Ronaldo stickers and football stickers. I also bought car and baseball stickers. And I put these stickers in his scrapbooking draw.

One day, I was in the house and he came out of his room and quietly sat down and did some scrapbooking. I waited till he finished and said, "Wow, you did some scrapbooking." He replied with, "I was angry." And then I congratulated him for removing himself from what he was angry about and focusing on something else. Who knew scrapbooking could help with emotional regulation.

So I only see benefits for letting your child scrapbooking and showing them how to do it.

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
