The different ways of scrapbooking

Image by Jan Kosmowski from Pixabay

If you love scrapbooking or interested to see what it is, be ready because once you start scrapbooking you will find so many ways to scrapbook other pieces of art and craft.

So let’s get started with the traditional way:

Scrapbooking a photo album

Yes you can scrapbook a photo album. Determine if there will be a theme for the scrapbooking part. For example, if your photos are all travel photo memories, you can scrapbook using travel scrapbooking supplies. Or if your scrapbooking has different themes throughout the scrapbook, then scrapbook to those different themes as you go.

For example, if your child had a birthday party but you also wanted to include the time your family took a trip to the zoo. You could scrapbook the birthday party with party, cake and ice cream, gifts and happy birthday stickers, scrapbooking paper and washi tape to showcase your child’s birthday party photos. If there was a party theme like Spider-Man, you can change the scrapbooking supplies to include Spider-Man. Then once you hit the zoo photos, you could have jungle themed scrapbooking paper, zoo animal stickers, and cool grass leaves and vines as the washi tape.

Resulting in two types of themes in your scrapbook. How many themes can you have in your album? As many as you want! You can pre-style your scrapbook album or work it out each section as you go.

The size of your photobook depends on you. Personally, I create one album of about 250 photos to hold the year’s priors photos in one. It actually ends up being quite a lot of albums. They definitely add up! I’m also a bit behind, so I have a few albums with photos glued in but no scrapbooking as yet.

Scrapbooking an art journal

I do find quite fun and relaxing is when I just scrapbook for the fun of it, in an art journal. What this means is, there are no photos and I just want to use some of creativity and just scrapbook. I like the art journal because it can be any size you want! I had an A4 notebook, so I use that, with no lines.

You can do a theme again or you can just try anything. One cool thing I noticed, is I taught one of my sons to scrapbook and bought him cool stickers of his favourite soccer player. And after showing him what to do. One day, he was angry and he went and got out his scrapbooking and started on his soccer page. He told me what he did and I was so proud of him.

Scrapbooking bookmarks

I have a blog post showing how I scrapbooked book marks. They were so much fun to make because I could literally create as many as I wanted. Plus, I could just scrapbook them the way I wanted. And they make me feel good to use them when I am reading. Because I jump from book to book, having a small stash is helpful.

Create Scrapbooking storage supplies

Sometimes, it’s cheaper and more fun to create my own scrapbooking storage. So I chop up a recycled small box from food shopping and I create the shape I want such as a rectangle box to hold my stickers. Then I scrapbook the outside of the box with all of my supplies, scrapbooking paper, stickers and washi tape. And then tape them to the box. Now I have a beautiful storage holder that I can look at and feel warmth inside that I made something so cool and useful.

Scrapbook to create a vision board

Yes, I did write a post on creating a vision board and I used my scrapbooking images and cut-offs, plus some cardboard and felt pens to create one word to describe each of the pictures. Vision boards are fun but to only use your scrapbooking supplies, which grow quite fast once you start the process, it’s more fun and personal.

There are many more ways to use scrapbooking in your home and in your life.

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
