Christmas Gift Ideas for you

Image by Michael Schwarzenberger from Pixabay

So one year, I went on Facebook on a Christmas group and said, can you suggest any Christmas gifts for me? I said I like pampering and arts and crafts.

Hundreds of gift ideas poured in, ranging from spa days to gift cards to one of Australia's craft stores.

But if you are stuck and someone is asking you for ideas, here is what I suggest:

Choose your most favourited hobby.

Then either get a gift card to your favourite hobby shop that sells you items for your favourite hobby.

Or if its an online store, send them the store and then pictures of what you would like.

Also, its perfectly ok to buy Christmas gifts for yourself .... one idea, is to buy your gifts earlier in the year, like October and go shopping and wrap the gifts and then place them in a cupboard or a tub. This way you may forget what you bought yourself and its much as a surprise for you on Christmas day. If you don't have time to buy early, still wrap your gifts and have fun wrapping. You could wrap your gifts like as a surprise, and just wrap ten different coloured wrapping paper over the gift, so you enjoy unwrapping the known gift.

I guess what I am trying to say is, do something nice for yourself.

Ok so without further waiting, here are some cool hobby gift ideas for you this Christmas:

1. Start a new hobby in the New Year: Buy a paint by numbers.

You might not be good at painting, but I can assure you, your finished paint by numbers will look like a professional painting that looks bought because its so good. Choose a painting that excites you. When starting a new hobby, I try (very hard) not to buy a whole heap of paint by numbers for example. Because what if you don't enjoy the outcome or the journey? Best to just buy one product when starting a new hobby.

If buying a paint by numbers, its best to buy it about 4 weeks before Christmas to make sure you get your parcel in time.

2. If you love reading, on Christmas day, go browsing and buy yourself some books!

Yes, your gift can be a virtual book. It depends if you enjoy reading eBooks or prefer hard copies. If you prefer eBooks, go shopping and buy your favourite eBooks. If you want hard copy books for Christmas, buy at least a few weeks in advance to get in time of Christmas closure of shipping dates so you have it in time for Christmas.

Now is the time, to splurge a little and if you really love a book, buy a hard copy. It is super special to have a hard copy book, especially one you love.

3. If you want the start the new year writing...

Buy yourself some special notebooks that help excite you to write in it. Buy yourself a fancy or cute pen or multiple pens. Or if you really want to spoil yourself, buy yourself a laptop for your writing. I feel like investing in your life, is a worthy gift to yourself.

4. Crocheting time

Ok, if you are like me ... you may or may not .... have heaps of yarn and crochet kits. But who ever has too many? Find some yarn storage and buy some more yarn in a colour you don't have. (I always buy 2 yarns in the same colour so I have enough for a project). And why not spoil yourself and buy some crochet kits. In the New Year, you might be looking to crochet some new patterns. Try something new and be adventurous!

Also a yarn bag is ideal, to put your current project in with the right coloured yarn and take to places to crochet.

5. Scrapbooking

Ok, so one year, I spent about $100 on scrapbooking supplies. I loved it. I had tiny packets of stickers, different scrapbooking paper and cute washi tape. It felt like a huge spoiled Christmas, because I could buy so many supplies for $100.

You can look at your last year's photos that you are going to print. And find themes for scrapbooking that you would like to use and then stock up on those themes for once you print the year's photos. Don't forget to print your Christmas photo's!

I hope this has inspired your Christmas gift ideas for your hobbies!

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
