How to decorate your home with your crocheting projects

Image by Uwe Walker from Pixabay

Personally, I love crocheting and I have given away a lot of my crocheting from amigurumi to blankets and scarves. But this year, what if I don't just focus on gifts but also crocheting for my home. So I decided to share my home crocheting projects with you, so you too can decorate your home with cool crocheting decorations.

Although it is summer in Australia at the moment. I am in the middle of crocheting two blankets. One for my sister (been over a year in waiting) - a white one and one for me a multi-coloured pink yarn colour. Although, I don't want to stop there. This is how I envision my adult blankets. At least have two different coloured blankets for my lounge. Why two? So when I am cleaning one I have another blanket I can use in the interim.

Also, these adult blankets are perfect for winter because the Acrylic yarn 3ply that I use, is incredibly warm. Unsure, where to find an adult blanket pattern. Check out one of my earlier blog posts here. I love that you can literally create all different moods with different yarn colours.

I have a yellow sofa covering and a pink one. So I could yarn a yellow blanket to match. I honestly never thought of using bright yellow for an entire blanket. But why not have some fun with this? Or I could use white or maybe even a green?

I love pink, so yes, I could create a pink blanket. But I am making one already, which is multi-coloured. But I could make a pastel pink or a dusty pink blanket. Or why not even try different colours in the blanket? Like maybe start out with a dark pink, then a third way in, change to a dusty pink and then another third drop to a pastel pink? Experimenting with yarn colours is always fun and why not try something different?

I could also create a blanket to be used as a rug for the floor. Why not? Again, I would probably use similar offsetting colours to the sofa covering. But I probably wouldn't use white, because you might see the dirt easier. Although a shake off would help remove any dirt. Maybe a mood colour range of greens, would go well with the yellow sofa covering and maybe purples or blues with the pink sofa covering.

I really want to create some cushions, maybe heart shaped. I did create tiny hearts for some gifts, so I just need to make much bigger - cushioned size. I could add some pastel pink or white or soft yellow coloured heart cushions and maybe make some for each of the beds in the bedrooms.

But I am not finished yet in the lounge room. I would crochet and place in eye-view my favourite amigurumi projects I have crocheted. From koalas to unicorns. Maybe one or two of each.

I wouldn't mind learning how to crochet some plants and flowers...so maybe that would look good in a vase? I would have to learn some new stitches, but may be this year I would be branching out and growing in crochet.

Now to my bedroom. I would love another blanket on the end of my bed. Maybe 2-3 that are coloured blue, green and pink. I also would like a heart cushion or two or four on my bed. Hahaha. Plus maybe one amigurumi on the bed for cuteness and reminder of happiness before going to bed.

Maybe some more cushions, they don't have to be hearts ... maybe square shaped in different colours to place on the floor when I would like to read or chill.

So yeah, I guess this year and over the next few years... I will be crocheting more blankets!! How do you want to decorate your home with crocheting? Add in the comments below.

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...
