Scrapbooking for shopping supplies

Shopping for scrapbooking supplies is a lot of fun. You can definitely get carried away! And it is so easy too, because if you are like me, you have 250 photos for one album and there are so many themes within that, you want scrapbooking supplies for all the themes.

If you check out my blog - you can read about how much I recommend you have before you stop shopping for more supplies.

So what do you need as the bare basics for scrapbooking shopping supplies?

*Please note, I am affiliated with AliExpress.com and use their affiliate links inside this blog post. What this means is, I receive a percentage of the sale price if you purchase something I recommend. Personally, I love shopping on AliExpress.com and that’s why I recommend it.

Scrapbooking paper

Whether you are looking for mermaid scrapbooking paper or perhaps ocean scrapbooking paper, AliExpress has a huge range of scrapbooking paper, that I literally just type in the type of theme of scrapbooking paper I want and see what comes up.

Stickers

Oh my goodness, I love stickers and honestly if I have to spend an extra $5 to get free shipping, I will spend it on stickers! I always get a 50 pack. And just like the scrapbooking paper, you can look up different themes of stickers. Like anything Disney, or flower stickers or fairy stickers. The sky is the limit. I have boys, so I have bought car stickers and soccer stickers. Any type of sport really, of stickers!

Washi tape

Personally, I can’t work out how to use PET stickers. They just come off singular or it doesn’t come off and I have to cut it off and glue it. I just don’t know how to use them. I prefer washi tape and again you get this in a variety of themes, such as mermaid washi tape, Pokemon washi tape. Just enter in your theme followed by washi tape in the search bar and see what pops up!

Can you tell how excited I am, to help you shop for scrapbooking supplies.

Rubber stamps

Ok, before you buy a whole stack like 100. But just one or a group of 5. I bought a group of 10 and I used one, once and I have never looked back. They just sit in my collection of scrapbooking supplies now. Not to mention it’s a pain to use. You have to clean it after every use. Also, when I bought mine, I can’t remember if it came with the stamp pad or if I had to buy that separately. So make sure you check if it comes with a stamp pad or not, because you need something to dip it in. Oh dear, mine has probably dried by now because its been a year since I used it, all but once.

Felt pens

I bought my felt pens from a local store. You can get once you love from anywhere. I do recommend felt pens, because they show up better for headers, like “Dawson’s 5th birthday.” They are handy to have for sure.

Normal pens

You can either get coloured pens or just use a normal blue or black pen. This is if you want to add comments to your photo album, like special memories you don’t want to forget. In addition to this, every year I do an album and ask my children what they want to be when they grow up. It’s cool to document it.

The album itself

I used to buy these fancy art albums for $10 each. But to be honest, I have so many albums. One a year, I have changed it up, and spend $4 each on an A4 art book. It means, I can spend more on printing the photos and the scrapbooking supplies. And it works just as well! I just wouldn’t recommend lined paper but you can use most books for scrapbooking.

The photos for scrapbooking

Yes, it is becoming harder and harder to print photos and also keep the photos digitally just in case. Find a local place to print the photos. Then, copy your mobile photos onto a PC or laptop and if you have one also your hard drive. You can also keep them on your mobile, noting you may have to pay for it, for icloud storage each month.

When I get more printed photos, I like to put them in order, if not already and glue them into the scrapbook. I have a few ready to be scrapbooked, but this way, the album is there already with the photos inside.

Well that’s about everything for scrapbooking supplies. There are many other types of supplies. Read my blog about a flat scrapbook versus a layered one, to help you on your journey of scrapbooking.

How I use my home for craft

So my home is decorated by my craft.  For example, I have a craft room where I store my craft supplies and have space to do my craft and then I have in my lounge room showing my craft creations (pictured above) and also storing craft supplies like yarn, where I love to look at and think about the possibilities of what I can do with my craft supplies.  It makes me feel good to come home and be surrounded by my craft.  And it’s ok to never have your craft room finished. For me it’s a work in progress. I am always changing it and my supplies and where to showcase my supplies. This is because my interests change. One month I may be heavily into crocheting so I don’t need a table for that, I can just sit on the couch. I really just need storage for my yarn and crochet needles and my half completed crochet projects such as draws to cater for these.  Another month, I may be into scrapbooking so I do need a table for this, my set of draws for the stickers and tapes and then ...

Crocheting my first blanket

So I decided that crocheting animals etc is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. And I found one. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant. So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled and realised after I do a row of single crochet stitches, I have to do one chain stitch at the end before ...

I crocheted my first scarf

If you are a subscriber to my hobbies YouTube channel @littlemissmel23, last week I posted a video on how to crochet a scarf. I couldn’t show the end result because it was already a long video, so I decided to show you on my blog. I have added the video to this blog post if you are interested in watching it for the pattern.  The final result: The final result is quite good I feel. I did a thin scarf and I ran out of pink yarn so I decided to add white. I’m quite proud of this scarf. I am going to play with the sizing and in particular the width of the scarf.  Now my kids have seen the first scarf, they are wanting me to make them one as well. They even chose the coloured yarn they want. One wants black and then white like my pink and white one pictured. And my other son wants a combination of blue white yarn.  As per the video, I plan to crochet 5-7 scarves for myself so I can wear one each day and change the scarf colour pending the outfit.  Scarf crocheting ...
