Why crafting is giving yourself self-care?

Do you ever find yourself smiling as you are working on your hobby?

Or notice that immediate feeling of joy when you open up your hobby resources to start prepping for hobby time?

I find this. Sometimes, I spend so much time planning, prepping and working that when I actually just sit down to do my hobbies, joy fills my being. I feel good. I actually feel like I am meditating. Because I feel at peace. I don't have to think about what I have to do that day or what stresses are playing out. I just have to live in the moment and focus on my hobbies.

Self-care is so important. I actually wrote a blog post on burnout. and a blog post on working too hard and how to bring back the fun with hobbies. So I really believe that if you want to focus on self-care, you make time each week, even if it is just 30 minutes to work on your hobbies. I feel this is so important for you.

What is self-care?

Self-care is when you put yourself in front of others and all other tasks. I am a huge task person. I actually have lists of tasks I want to complete throughout the day. I feel really good when I achieve my tasks. I always include self-care as a task, because then I will actually make time for it.

You need to find what gives you self-care.

For example, if you like to turn on some relaxing music and just let your thoughts wander for 15 minutes and relax your body. This is self-care.

If you like to receive pampering, whether it is a massage, or facial or getting your feet pampered. This is self-care. By the way you don't have to spend a fortune getting pampered, you can do this yourself or buy a massage cover for your chair, which is a fraction of the cost of getting a weekly massage from a masseuse. There are always budget-friendly ways to save on self-care.

Getting outdoors and going for a walk, is always a great way for self-care. It's giving your body a much needed break and your body fresh air to breathe. You don't have to walk to listen to the nature around you, although that can help! You can listen to pod-casts to help improve yourself and grow or listen to music to help you relax or pump through your veins to get you moving. This is all self-care.

Looking after your body psychically is self-care.

Eating a healthy meal is also self-care for your body and mind. If you want your body and mind to fully function at a high pace, feeding yourself healthy food is amazing for you.

So self-care is about doing things that make you feel good, for your body and mind.

If you are looking at tracking your self-care, I have created some fun self-care printable digital templates, you can purchase from my Etsy Store. There is the 365 Colour-In Hearts Self-Care Printable Tracker. So every day you spend time on self-care for yourself, you colour-in a circle within the hearts. Plus, I have created the self-care weekly planner. Where you list what self-care activity you did each day and how it made you feel. A great way to look over your week and feel gratitude for what self-care you have given to yourself. Or take 2 days off and go on a 2-day Self-Care Retreat at Home.

So what self-care activities are you going to do today?

Reshuffling my craft space for scrapbooking

When you feel uninspired change up your craft space  So I haven’t been scrapbooking as much because I have a set of drawers with stickers, washi tape and other cool stationery and then I have my tub of scrapbooking paper in my cupboard.  I was thinking about what I could do to bring my scrapbooking closer. Here’s a photo of my tub of scrapbooking paper. Look how undesirable it looks. Inside I have large paper about A4 size and A3. Then I have 12x12 inch paper. Plus an ice cream tub full of scrap paper.  It just made me feel unsatisfied and what makes me excited to work on a hobby is that I can see the resources and get excited to get started. But this set-up was not empowering me. I started brainstorming about maybe making a craft space. I found a table from IKEA with draws on both sides that I could put my scrapbooking paper and accessories in as well as my diamond painting. I also found a desk backing which is like a three level high shelving that attaches to the table....

Crocheting my first blanket and how you can to

Finding a relaxing crochet project for beginners So I decided that crocheting animals etc. is pretty stressful. Not really stressful but not relaxing. A cool end result but I wanted to find something to crochet where I didn’t have to count the stitches or focus on the different type of stitches. So I decided to crochet a simple blanket.  I just wanted to use a small amount of stitches and not count them. I didn’t want to do anything fancy. But I still wanted to crochet. I believe if I could find something to stitch that I could just relax doing it than it was worth it. I started googling a simply blanket planet using single crochet stitch. It’s simple start off with the first row with a chain stitch and then turn it over and do the rest with a single crochet stitch. Brilliant.  Why single crochet blankets don't work without a chain stitch So I started crocheting a baby blanket. It didn’t work out. The sides were uneven and the blanket was all different lengths. So I googled an...
